Introduction
Just
when you thought that the art of painting had finally gone as far
as it can, Bryon Havranek reinvented it. Replacing the
traditional
canvas with intricately shaped wood designs, Bryon's work
combines
oils and acrylics in finely detailed explosions of vibrant color that
are sure to catch your eye even as they twist your brain around and
around. Finely riding the line between passion and logic, between
chaos and order, these paintings seem to tap into the universal stream
of consciousness, linking East and West, ancient and modern.
Biography
Brian
writes of himself....
"I am a self-taught painter who has
spent the last 2 years working in a style that I invented. This style I
have named 'Melange DuBois' or 'mix of wood' since it combines a
mixture of wood panels and paint, oils and acrylics, 2D and 3D, ancient
pottery patterns and modern Constructivist/Bauhaus designs. This
technique took 3 and a half years of tough and difficult experimentation, but I didn't give
up, and the end product continues to delight those that look at them.
I've since shown my work in San Diego, LA, Omaha, and NYC. Artists who
in particular have inspired me are Wassily Kandinsky, Edgar Degas,
Laslo Maholy-Nagy, Austin Osman Spare, and John Richen. As for my
background, my father was in the Navy for 20 years, so we traveled alot. San Diego was his
last duty station, and that's why I'm still here, 15 years later."
